Take every opportunity to head outside with your children and have some family fun this summer. For your inspiration here are some things to explore and enjoy together.

- Have breakfast outside
- Ride the big train
- Visit a new playground
- Have a nice long walk from Otaihanga car park to Victor Weggery Reserve Playground?
- Go to Te Horo Beach Bus Station Café (great outdoor place for kids to crawl and run)
- Go to a farm park and look for cows
- Visit a pet store.
- Go to Fisherman’s table beach and have fun in rock pools.
- Practice log-rolling on the lawn
- Have nappy free time with toys outside
- Visit splash pads at Marine Gardens or Aotea Lagoon
- Visit Palmerston North playground (there is a miniature road with traffic lights for rides on)
- Have a dance party
- Put your socks on your hands and make it look they are talking
- Put up a tent on your lawn and pretend you are camping. Have a tea inside.
- Have a picnic at Otaihanga domain while watching the ducks.
- Experiment and play with sticks – Fishing sticks, Throwing sticks, Horsey sticks, Drumming sticks, Potions sticks, Magician stick
- Collect stones from the river or the beach and paint them with water colours
- Visit Battle Hill Farm Forest Park – watch horse ridings, feed ells in the stream, have a walk or even camp there.
- Make a fire at Te Horo Beach and toast marshmallows(check the fire season status if fire permit is required)
